“Nothing is more disgusting than respect based on fear.”
Albert Camus
I fully agree.
It’s a type of respect that we can come across in every aspect of our lives and which I find very repulsive!
Since our topic is business life, let me set aside family, school, etc., and talk a little about this offensive “respect” in business life.
In order to gain respect from the members of the team, that is, the teammates who carry the leader up or forward, scaring them, showing a stick under the cover at every opportunity, “I have the power; If I want, I will crush you and destroy you!” Unfortunately, I often encountered managers who act like that.
The decision is yours!
It is up to you to be like them, to be a manager who is respected venomously, who is forgotten when leaves the post, who is pushed and ridiculed when loses the power.
However, it is also in your hands to be a leader who is admired and respected and who exudes a sense of assurance to everyone, not fear, when enters the environment where the team is.
And believe me, being the kind of leader I outlined in the latter is both more permanent and actually much easier than you think.
